Research Award
I was chuffed to bits to receive the Quality Research Award from the British College of Aesthetic Medicine in September 2022. The British College of Aesthetic Medicine is the UK’s leading representative body for doctors practising aesthetic medicine. The award was for my clinical paper published in the international medical Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy on The Lifting Effect of Botox. To receive the award was such an honour! My research was something good out of lockdown #1 when we had to close our clinic for 4 months. If I’m honest I found doing research on my own quite […]
Why Your Cosmetic Treatments Should Have Changed
In the present day most of us strive for general well being, looking after ourselves both physically and psychologically. As the years pass we seek what we might call ‘successful ageing’. When it comes to our physical appearance we know that, rightly or wrongly, we are often judged on how we look, but more importantly we understand how our appearance can affect our general levels of confidence, and how we feel about ourselves. The majority of my patients aren’t trying to look 20 years younger, but they do want to look great for their age – they want to look […]
2018 London Injectables Masterclass
I was thrilled and honoured to be invited to a 2-day Masterclass in London in early March, hosted by Allergan, the manufacturers of Botox® and Juvederm® dermal fillers. I was especially lucky to be able to get there in the snow – 100 delegates (out of the 250 invited in the UK) had been unable to travel! This is the 6th time I have seen Mauricio de Maio, a Brazilian plastic surgeon recognised as THE leading injector of dermal fillers in the world. Mauricio has pioneered injection procedures – having invented the 8-Point Face Lift and refined the technique each […]
Insights from the Aesthetic world, London September 2016
This last month saw two hugely important events in the aesthetic calendar for UK practitioners, and I am delighted to say that I was present for both. The first was hosted by Allergan Medical Institute, marking the ten-year anniversary of Botox receiving its license in the UK for the treatment of frown lines. The conference was led by Dr Arthur Swift (pictured left), a pioneering and world renowned plastic surgeon from Canada. His lecture was inspiring, focussing on the use of phi (also known as the golden ratio) when assessing facial proportions. This ratio (1:1.6) was first identified by Leonardo da […]
Allergan’s 2016 Visionary Masterclass
I was honoured and delighted to be invited by Allergan to attend their Aesthetics Masterclass in London at the end of February. This two day event is led by one of the world’s preeminent experts in the field of non-surgical cosmetic procedures, Brazilian plastic surgeon Mauricio de Maio. This is the fourth consecutive year that I have attended the event which, for me, is the highlight of the aesthetic calendar. Much of the programme was spent on technical matters, including refinements to the ‘The Eight Point Lift‘, a ground-breaking technique developed by Mauricio and one which I have used myself […]
